Art is alive and prospering in the city of Oakland Park Florida. The greater Fort Lauderdale community recently opened the Oakland Park Art Park located in the heart of Oakland Park at 100 NE 34TH Court, adjacent to the Oakland Park City Hall. The compact Oakland Park development features open art spaces, a seating wall and sidewalks. Open outdoor artwork and sculptures from local Oakland Park artists and other artists are featured at the park, which was once the block-long home Lucius Kinsey, one of the earliest settlers in the Oakland Park community. The location was also the home of Leroy Chadwick, a businessman who owned a plastering company that help construct many of the buildings in the Oakland Park, FL community. Chadwick also served as a City Councilman in Oakland Park In the 1960’s. The Oakland Park Art Park today also serves as the place for art events in the Oakland Park community.
